Freshman Savannah Slattery recorded her first career double-double, teaming a match-best 16 kills with 15 digs, as LMU (13-6, 4-3 WCC) swept Santa Clara (11-8, 2-5 WCC) by scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-19 on the road on Thursday night.
Slattery hit .364 with only four errors on 33 swings, while junior Sarah Sponcil chipped in 14 kills and 14 digs for a double-double of her own. The Lions as a team hit .274 receiving sets from freshman Jessie Prichard who dished out 37 assists. LMU's serving game proved strong in the victory, recording seven aces, including two apiece from Nicky Kevorken and Kekai Whitford.
No Bronco player finished with double-digit kills, as Nikki Hess led the squad with seven kills. Callie Jones dished out 21 assists as Santa Clara hit just .082 as a team. LMU held the Broncos to sub-.200 hitting in all three sets, including a -.029 clip in the second.
The Lions will continue a Bay Area trip on Saturday, traveling to San Francisco for a match at 1 p.m.
