NEWTON, Mass. - A Grant Sampson goal just one minute into the run of play stood for the remainder of the match as the LMU men's soccer team improved to 4-0-0 on the season with a 1-0 shutout at Boston College Sunday afternoon.

Off to the best start in program history with their 4-0-0 record, the Lions have also recorded four consecutive shutouts in 2015. Dating back to Nov. 9, 2014, when they surrendered a goal to Santa Clara in an eventual 1-1 draw, the Lions have not allowed a goal in 483:56 straight minutes of action.

Goalkeeper Paul Blanchette was instrumental both defensively and offensively against the Eagles, earning his fourth shutout of the season and his second career assist. The senior keyed Sampson's game-winner just 1:02 into play, launching a punt up the field. Catching Boston College goalkeeper Cedric Saladin off his line, Sampson collected Blanchette's punt and set a shot over Saladin's head and into the open net.

Blanchette not only secured his fourth straight clean sheet of the season, but also tallied his 15th career shutout, an LMU all-time record. He finished Sunday's match with two saves as the Lions handed Boston College (3-1-0) its first loss of the season.

The Lions finished with 12 shots, including four on frame, to the Eagles' 14.

LMU concluded a three-match road swing on Friday, Sept. 11, traveling to CSU Bakersfield for a 7:30 p.m. kick off. The Lions return to Sullivan Field Sunday, Sept. 13, hosting New Mexico at 4 p.m.
