Home Stand Continues With Detroit, Toledo

LOS ANGELES - LMU Women's Soccer continues a five-match homestand this week, hosting Detroit on Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. and Toledo on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. The Lions look to build on last week's home opening 3-0 shutout of Bucknell.

LION NOTES
• Jocelyn Blankenship, Maddie Medved and Sarah Sanger each found the back of the net last week in a 3-0 shutout of Bucknell. • The home-opening win over Bucknell gives the Lions three straight home-opening victories as they also topped Northwestern, 1-0, in 2013 and New Mexico State, 3-1, in 2014. • Jocelyn Blankenship's goal at Penn State (Aug. 23) was her first score since her sophomore season. As a junior last fall, she led the Lions with six assists, but did not find the back of the net herself. She scored again on Aug. 28 versus Bucknell, giving her two goals through three matches this season.
• Senior midfielder Jocelyn Blankenship was named to the 2015 All-WCC Preseason Team.
• LMU was picked seventh in the West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Lions went 9-8-2 overall and 2-6-1 in WCC play last season with a young squad that featured just three seniors.
• Seniors Morgan Hilby (5g, 6a), Shannon Kent (6g) and Jocelyn Blankenship (6a) return to the pitch after leading LMU in points, goals and assists last fall.
• Ten total starters return and 15 total letterwinners while the Lions also welcome nine newcomers and four redshirts.

SERIES HISTORY VS DETROIT
This marks the just the second all-time meeting between LMU and Detroit. The two teams met last on Oct. 28, 2004 at Sullivan Field. LMU was victorious in the match, claiming a 2-0 shutout.

ABOUT THE TITANS
Detroit enters Friday's match against LMU with a 2-2-0 record on the young season. The Titans dropped a 3-2 double overtime decision to Toledo to open the season, but followed that with a 2-0 that of Ohio. They've also suffered a 3-0 setback at Michigan, but most recently earned a 3-1 victory over Bowling Green. Six different Titans have scored thus far, led by Alyssa Lotito with two goals. Marina Manzo and Claudia Eustaquio have split minutes in goal, combining for 22 saves and seven goals allowed.

SERIES HISTORY VS TOLEDO
This marks the first all-time meeting between LMU and Toledo.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS
Toledo enters the week at 1-3-0 overall and will face No. 10 Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif., on Friday before facing LMU on Sunday. The Rockets have been outscored 14-3 through four matches, including a 7-0 shutout by then No. 23 Kentucky. Isabella Echeverri has two goals for Toledo while Sophie Pohl has one. Geri Siudzinski has a pair of assists for the Rockets.
