LOS ANGELES - In its final match prior to the start of West Coast Conference play, the LMU men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to Cal Poly Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Field.
The Lions warp up the bulk of their non-conference schedule at 5-5-0 overall. The Mustangs improve to 5-2-1 on the year.
Cal Poly took a 1-0 lead at the 23:45 mark of the matches Chase Minter and Austin Wilcox combined to move the ball across the goalmouth from right to left. Wilcox slotted the final pass to Justin Dhillon who sent a left footed shot past LMU goalkeeper Vince Paldino.
The Mustangs doubled the spread in the 84th minute on a 25-yard direct free kick from Chase Minter.
LMU finished with six shots to the Mustangs' 11. The Lions return to action, and begin West Coast Conference play, on Saturday, Oct. 10 at San Diego.
