OGDEN, Utah - Rallying from a two-goal deficit, the LMU women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals, including two from senior midfielder Jocelyn Blankenship, to claim a 3-2 victory over Weber State Friday afternoon.
The win was LMU's sixth straight and first away from Sullivan Field this season. The squad now sits at 6-2-0 on the year while Weber State dropped to 4-4-1.
The Wildcats took an early advantage on a goal by Kellyn Ashby in the 11th minute. Weber State made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute when Lana Willard redirected a free kick by Brecken Holbrook into the corner netting.
Nikki Martino responded off LMU's ensuing kick off, scoring her first goal of the season off an assist from Maddie Medved, and cutting the Lion deficit in half as the teams headed into the locker rooms.
Blankenship wasted little time knotting the score at 2-2 in the second half, sending a curling 20-yard free kick near the endline into the far post at the 56:41 mark.
Less than six minutes later, Blankenship struck again, blasting a cleared ball back at the goal from just outside the box, to give LMU the 3-2 lead.
The Lions finished with a 15-6 shot advantage, limiting the Wildcats to just three shots each half. Charlee Pruitt, who played the second half in goal for LMU, made one save and posted her second victory of the year.
LMU continues its current three-match road swing on Sunday at Utah. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. Mountain, 12 p.m. Pacific.
