LOS ANGELES - A steady 90-minute attack by LMU women's soccer on their return home to Sullivan Field resulted in a 3-0 win over Bucknell on Friday afternoon. Three Lions scored as they posted a shutout in their 2015 home opener.
Jocelyn Blankenship put the Lions (1-2-0) on the board first when she scored at the 26:23 mark. She scored on a perfect free kick, putting it in the top right corner. LMU goalie Sophia Leksan tallied a pair of saves in the half as the Lions led 1-0 at the half.
Maddie Medved and Sarah Sanger then added second half goals for the Lions for the three-goal margin over the Bison (1-1-1).
Jill Farley fed a cross to setup Medved's volley at 52:37 and then Sanger raced up the field and navigated the defense for the final goal of the game at 66:06.
Goalie Charlee Pruitt posted the shutout in the second half.
The Lions continue their five-game home stand when they host Detroit on Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 pm.
