NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Four different Lions found the back of the net as the LMU men's soccer team earned a 4-0 shutout of CSUN in an exhibition match Saturday night.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the run of play when Adrien Perez sent a ball up the middle of the field to Maurice Morton who chipped a shot past Matador keeper Adam Hobbs.
With under a minute to play in the half, Greg Antognoli had a shot block saved by Hobbs. But Akio Ohtake-Gordon was there to tap the rebound back into the net for a 2-0 Lion lead at the break.
Perez and Morton would tag team again in the second half, trading roles this time as Morton slipped a pass to Perez who beat Hobbs far post for a 3-0 LMU lead in the 64th minute.
Seven minutes later, Justin Carpenter made a long run up the right flank, took a pass from Grant Sampson and buried a shot into the back post.
The Lions finished with an 18-8 shot advantage, including eight shots on frame. Paul Blanchette got the start in goal for LMU, making three saves in the shutout victory.
LMU will return to Sullivan Field for its official 2015 debut, hosting San Jose State on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
