LOS ANGELES - LMU women's soccer is back on the pitch as preseason training is underway for the 2015 season. The Lions kept busy during the summer and the LMU Sports Network caught up with a few of them as the second week of training began on Sullivan Field.
Sophomore Maddie Medved was one of two Lions to travel to Vancouver, BC for the Women's World Cup Final, an experience she'll never forget. "It was inspiring and really got me excited for season," Medved said. You get ideas, watch your position players and can really learn a lot form watching that level of play."
Medved is more experienced herself as she enters her second season with the Lions. The central midfielder appeared in 18 matches as a rookie, earning 17 starts. She saw 1,480 minutes of action, the most of any freshman in 2014, and contributed one goal and two assists.
The Lions kick off the year with an exhibition match at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Aug. 15, followed by the official season-opener on Aug. 21 against Rutgers in the Penn State Tournament. LMU's home opener is slated for Saturday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. versus Bucknell.
