LOS ANGELES - LMU women's soccer is back on the pitch as preseason training is underway for the 2015 season. The Lions kept busy during the summer and the LMU Sports Network caught up with a few of them as the first week of training wound down on Sullivan Field.
Jocelyn Blankenship spent a second straight summer playing for a club team, this time the SoCal FC of the Women's Premier Soccer League. The squad reached the finals of the WPSL Championships, eventually falling in the title match, but the experience was one that Blankenship is excited to bring back to the pitch at LMU.
The senior midfielder has been a three-year starter, and three-time All-WCC selection, for the Lions and will look to close out her collegiate career on a high note this fall.
The Lions kick off the year with an exhibition match at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Aug. 15, followed by the official season-opener on Aug. 21 against Rutgers in the Penn State Tournament. LMU's home opener is slated for Saturday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. versus Bucknell.
