The LMU women's rowing team was edged by a second in the Varsity 8 Berg Cup race, but did claim victory in the 2V8 and V4 races in Newport Beach, Calif. on Saturday.

The Lions, who had won three straight Berg Cups, fell a second short in the Varsity 8 race to UC Santa Barbara with a time of 6:35.1. Despite the narrow loss in the top race, the Lions performed well in the 2V8 and V4 races.

LMU turned in a time of 6:44.9 to win the 2V8 before finishing ahead of Long Beach State in the V4 with a time of 7:33.3. LMU added a few new rowers for the weekend competition, as LMU swimmers Mary Kate Reid, Kailee Mora, Kristen Clarno and Sofia Abrate debuted on Saturday.

The LMU men were also in action on Saturday, competing against UCSB and USC. The Lions finished fourth in the V8 race for the Gordon Cup.
