LOS ANGELES - Stephanie Maciel, Stephanie Crist and Meghan von Behren homered early and the Lions pounded out 13 hits for 12 runs in four innings to claim a 12-0 shutout of Bethune Cookman Friday at the LMU Muscle Milk Invite.
Alex Finie led off the home half of the first with a single and Maciel immediately put the Lions on the board with a two-run shot over the left field fence.
LMU would tack on four more runs in the second courtesy a solo homer by von Behren, an RBI-singel by Amanda Dirks and a two-run home run by Crist.
Courtney Moore and Finie tallied RBI-singles in the third and Finie would later score an unearned run on a wild pitch to make it 9-0 through three complete. Three more runs in the fourth, including a solo homer by Caitlin Harman, gave LMU the dozen run advantage.
In the circle, Rachael Farrington fanned three and scattered six hits in the five-inning shutout, improving to 11-9 on the season.
The weeklong homestand continues Saturday as the Lions take on UC Riverside in the final game of a four-game set at Smith Field. All games Thursday, March 19 through Monday, March 23 are part of the LMU/Muscle Milk Invitational. Tickets are on sale now for the tournament by clicking here.
