LA JOLLA, Calif. - The ninth-ranked LMU women's water polo team earned a sweep in the final day of the 2015 UC San Diego Triton Invitational, defeating CSU East Bay and Marist in La Jolla on Sunday.
The Lions claimed a 7-2 win over the Pioneers and then defeated No. 19 Marist 6-4. On the weekend, the Lions allowed just 17 goals in four games.
In the finale, the Lions scored the game's final three goals to earn the come-from-behind win. Senior Mackenzie Beck had three goals in the win.
To open the final day, the Lions jumped out to a 4-1 lead on the Pioneers and never looked back. Bridgette Alvarez and Kiana Harpstrite had two goals each.
The Lions improve to 7-3 on the season and will have another bye week before traveling to the UC Irvine Invitational on Feb. 21-22.
