LOS ANGELES - In the last 14 games, LMU had been out-rebounded just twice helping them gain momentum in winning three of their last four. This time, BYU used a 42 to 25 edge on the glass to earn an 87-68 win over the Lions in West Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (18-8, 8-5) held a 19-8 edge in second chance points, thanks in large part to the NCAA record fifth triple-double by Kyle Collinsworth. He finished with a game-high 23 points, 12 rebounds (six offensive) and 10 assists to set the record.

Junior Marin Mornar led the Lions for the third straight game, scoring 17 with five rebounds and a block. Evan Payne added 15 points and four assists while David Humphries netted 10 points and nine rebounds.

"Rebounding was the difference," said Head Coach Mike Dunlap. "We have been good at doing the hard-nosed type of work. We have to continue to learn and grow at being consistent at all phases of the game."

Tyler Haws added 22 points and Sklyer Halford chipped in 18 for the Cougars, who finished shooting 45.8 percent from the field. LMU, who shot 54.5 percent in the second half but attempted just 24 shots to BYU's 32, finished shooting 43.6 from the field.

BYU shot 27-for-31 from the free throw line (87.1 percent) while LMU was 13-for-19 (68.4 percent).

The Lions held the lead early, 16-11, after an Evan Payne dunk. However, a 13-4 stretch by the Cougars gave them the lead for good. They then built a double-digit lead with an 8-0 run toward the end of the half, taking a 40-30 lead into the locker room.

LMU would get the lead under double digits multiple times, the last time coming on a free throw from Payne, making it 61-53 with 8:28 to play.

The Lions head back on the road when they travel to No. 2 Gonzaga on Thursday, Feb. 12 for a 6 pm tipoff.
