Head of the American Results
The 2015-16 LMU rowing season got underway last Saturday, as the Lions traveled to Sacramento, Calif. for the Head of the American Regatta at Lake Natoma. On the women's side, the Lions finished 10th in the Varsity 8+, while the men took third in the 4+ and seventh in the 2-.
Competing against some of the best schools on the west coast, LMU placed 10th in the Varsity 8+. LMU's time of 18:11 was the fastest mark from a school outside of the Pac-12, 17 seconds better than Sacramento State at 18:28. California won the race with a time of 16:49, one second faster than Washington at 16:50.
Results for the women's 2- had errors and no official times were published at the time of this release.
On the men's side, LMU took third in the 4+ with a time of 18:22, finishing behind UC Davis and Santa Clara, and in a dead heat with UC Irvine. Davis won the race with a time of 18:08. LMU's men also took seventh in the 2-, with Matt Connelly and Jake Barnett stopping the clock at 20:23. A pair from Stanford (19:02) won the race, followed by a boat from Capital Crew and four pairs from UC Santa Barbara.
LMU rowing will return to the water on October 31 when it participates at the Long Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
