LOS ANGELES - Senior Ayodeji Egbeyemi scored a career-high 22 points and junior Marin Mornar went for a career-best double-double as LMU earned an 80-68 win over Portland in West Coast Conference action on Thursday night from Gersten Pavilion.

The Lions (5-13, 1-5) once again shared the ball, posting 17 assists on the night, including another eight from senior Chase Flint, who has 27 in the last four games with just five turnovers. As for Mornar, he had career-highs for the second straight game in posting his first career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He added three blocks.

Portland (11-7, 2-4) was led by Alec Wintering with 17 points.

"Our poise was a big key for us tonight," said Head Coach Mike Dunlap. "We kept our poise when they cut into our lead. Our field goal percentage on offense was solid tonight, but we were equally good in keeping them to a lower percentage."

LMU held Portland to 39.4 percent shooting from the field and just 8-for-27 from three (29.5 percent). Meanwhile, the Lions finished the game shooting 51 percent from the field, including 66.7 percent from three. LMU hit 8-for-12 for the game, knocking down 7-for-11 in the first half in building a lead as large as 12 in the first half.

"We had good balance and Chase is getting comfortable being the quarterback of this team," said Dunlap. "There were a lot of positives from the entire lineup."

With the game tied at 8-8, the Lions went on a 14-2 run to take a 22-10 lead with seven minutes to play on an Evan Payne lay-up. The lead was 10 at the break, 36-26.

After Portland scored the first bucket of the second half, six straight points by the Lions - including David Humphries hitting the Lions' only three of the half - to make it 42-28 with 17:09 to play.

LMU led 47-36 when Portland would challenge the Lions' poise. They would post a 10-0 run, cutting the lead to 49-48 on a Gabe Taylor jumper with 11:02 to play.

And the Lions answered with a run of their own, posting 13 straight points to pull away for good.

The Lions out-rebounded Portland 39-33 and kept second leading scorer Thomas Van Der Mars to just 1 points and two rebounds. He entered the game averaging 10.9 ppg and 7.9 rpg, which was third in the WCC.

"Godwin Okonji did a great job on him tonight and we made him play in a crowd," said Dunlap. "Marin added great length inside and it was a great team effort."

The Lions will face the highest ranked team to ever play in Gersten Pavilion when they welcome No. 3 Gonzaga on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 pm. It is the 2015 Homecoming Game with a LMU Alumni Association hosting a pre game tailgate party at 11 am. It is the WCC Game of the Week with a live pre game show starting at 12:30 pm followed by the game live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.
