DAVIS, Calif. - Adrien Perez scored his second goal in three matches, giving the LMU men's soccer team a 1-1 double overtime draw at UC Davis Friday night.
LMU (0-1-2) played the full 110 minutes for the second time this young season, and for the second time, a 1-1 tie was the final result.
The Lions surrendered a goal just inside two minutes when the Aggies' Matt Sheldon followed the rebound off of a blocked save by Paul Blanchette and buried it into the net. Noah Wilson was credited with the assist on the goal for taking the blocked shot attempt.
Perez came up with the big equalizer at the 22:41 mark, taking a pass from Sebastian De Rada and striking a 25-yard shot from beyond the top of the box and into the right side of the goal.
Perez had another shot attempt blocked in the first half while Alvaro Madrigal's attempt with three minutes to go was saved by Kris Schultz. Moments later Cruz Corral hit the post with a shot attempt and the teams went into the break tied 1-1.
Opportunities were sparse in the second frame and the two overtime periods as both teams had four shots over the 65-minute span, only one by the Aggies requiring a goalkeeper save.
LMU returns to action on Sunday, closing out its four-match, season opening road trip at Sacramento State. Kick off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
