LOS ANGELES -- Senior Joe Ferretti led 17th-ranked LMU men's water polo to a 14-10 win over Fresno Pacific in Western Water Polo Association play on Saturday at the Burns Aquatics Center.
Ferretti scored five goals in the win, setting a career-best in the process. Sophomore Tyler Testman added a hat-trick and Liam Jennis and Eric Hernandez had a pair of goals each. The Lions were without four starters once again as Vuk Cvetkovic, Milutin Mitrovic, Cory McGee, and leading scorer Emanuel Di Stasio were not in action on the day.
Up just one, 3-2, after the first quarter, the Lions scored 10 goals in the middle two frames to build a seven-goal lead, 13-6. Hernandez did the honors with just 22 seconds remaining in the third quarter and the Lions never looked back.
Dominick Beaudine had five saves in the first two quarters in goal for the Lions and sophomore Kirk Wilenius had eight in the final two.
LMU is back in action Wednesday, Oct. 1 when they travel to WWPA rival UC San Diego for another conference match-up, this one starting at 6 pm start.
