LOS ANGELES - Battling the defending national champions and top-ranked UCLA Bruins on their home turf, the LMU women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at Drake Stadium Sunday night.

It was just the second loss on the season for LMU, which moved to 5-2-1 overall. The unbeaten Bruins are now 8-0-1.

UCLA built a 2-0 lead through the first half on goals by Rosie White and Sam Mewis. They tacked on two more in a five-minute span midway through the second half.

LMU spoiled their opportunity for a shutout, however, as Shannon Kent netted her second goal of the year in the 77th minute. The goal was just the second allowed by the Bruins through nine games, as they have posted seven shutouts.

Sophia Leksan finished with a career high 11 saves in the net for the Lions. UCLA sent in 26 total shots, 15 on frame. LMU finished with nine shots, including seven on goal, which forced six saves by Katelyn Rowland.

The Lions return to action Friday, Sept. 26 at UC Irvine. They return to Sullivan Field on Sunday, hosting Cal State Northridge at 4 p.m.
