DURHAM, N.C. - The LMU men's soccer team wrapped up play at the John Rennie/Nike Invitational Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 setback against Elon at Duke's Koskinen Stadium.
The Lions (0-1-1) struggled to find much offensive flow in the match, managing just eight those, though five were on frame.
Elon had 10 shots, six of which were turned away by LMU goalkeeper Vince Paldino. But the Phoenix would only need one to get across the line. Miguel Zalazar tallied his second goal in as many games, scoring on a 20-yard strike in the 35th minute. Luis Argudo earned the assist on the goal.
Mark Dotseth had a pair of shots on goal for the Lions while Adrien Perez, LMU's goal scorer against Duke on Friday, was held to just one shot opportunity.
LMU's four-game, season-opening road swing continues on Friday, Sept. 5 at UC Davis and Sunday, Sept. 7 at Sacramento State.
