LOS ANGELES -- Heading into what is winter in Australia, Joshua Spiers was in his small town in Australia focused on playing for a local team, hoping to continue with a future in a sport he loved. Before he knew it, he visited five countries, was playing NCAA Division I basketball and this past week finished his first week of final exams.
The past six months has been a whirlwind for the forward from Queensland, Australia. He has traveled from Australia to China while playing in a showcase tournament this past June/July. He then found himself studying a summer semester at LMU as a member of the Lions. He then was in Spain. And two weeks later, he was in his first full seemster as an LMU Lion.
He sat down with the LMU Sports Network to talk about his journey, what he has learned, the big steps in his game and what he sees as a key to the Lions game against Northern Arizona on Saturday.
The Lions take on the Lumberjacks today, Saturday, Dec. 13 as part of a six-game road swing to end non-conference play. Game time is set for 1 pm (PT) and can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM.
