LOS ANGELES - Deanna Johnson hit a running layup with 0.4 seconds remaining in the game to snap a 86-86 tie and give the LMU women's basketball team an 88-86 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in an exhibition match-up Monday night in Gersten Pavilion.

Showcasing a high octane offense with a variety of weapons, four Lions finished in double figures while 10 total players scored on the night. Johnson led LMU with 20 points, while Leslie Lopez-Wood had 17, Sophie Taylor had 16 and Emily Ben-Jumbo added 11. Ben Jumbo-finished with a double-double on the night, also pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds.

CSUDH was led by Tayler Champion's 20 points. Four other Toros scored in double-figures including Julia Poecksteiner who came off the bench to score 19 points along with 13 rebounds.

A scrappy first half saw the teams go back and forth early. With the Toros leading 13-10 at the 13:59 mark, the Lions rolled off 12 straight, capped by a Deshka Olson three and Olivia Lucero layup, to take a 22-13 at 11:50. LMU would stretch its lead to as many as 11, but hit just 1-of-10 down the stretch as CSUDH went on a 14-2 run to close out the half.

A trio of threes by Leslie Lopez-Wood early in the second half turned a 40-39 halftime deficit into a 50-47 lead at 15:26. The Lions led by as many as seven int he second half, but the pesky Toros would not go away.

With LMU leading 84-78 at the 2:12 mark, CSUDH would score five straight, cutting the Lion lead to one. Johnson hit a layup with 50 seconds remaining, pushing the spread back to three, 86-83, but Champion responded with a long three to knot the game at 86-86.

A turnover by Johnson gave The Toros one more look, but two missed shots put the ball back in LMU's hands for a final possession. With just under 10 seconds remaining, Johnson went the length of the court and laid in the game-winner.

LMU returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 9, hosting it's final exhibition game against Bethesda University. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
