Head of Marina Results
Junior Janayna Sobrosa won the women's single sculls on Saturday at the Head of the Marina Regatta, helping LMU to finish 1-4-5 in the race ahead of a pair of rowers from UCLA. The LMU men also won the novice 8+ race on Saturday, defeating a quartet of Bruin boats. The annual Head of the Marina Regatta, hosted each year by the California Yacht Club, is a 5,000 meter head type race held within the Marina del Rey Harbor.
Sobrosa won the single sculls in a time of 21:34, followed by UCLA 'B' (22:10), UCLA 'A' (22:16), and LMU's Toni Boteva (22:52) and Alexa Carrington (24:47).
The men's novice 8+ team of Harrison Husting, Adrian Rodriguez, Brandon Blau, Andrew Fronczak, Garett Gross, Cody Warrington, Bradley Kritzer and Paul Gagorik, coxed by Parker House, earned the first-place finish in 19:29.
The LMU men will return to the water tomorrow at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival, while the women will next row competitively on November 9 at the Long Beach Invitational.
