SPOKANE, Wash. - Facing a two-gaol deficit for the second time in three games, the LMU men's soccer team could not complete the comeback on the road, falling 2-1 to Gonzaga Friday in West Coast Conference action.

The Lions fell to 5-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in WCC play. Gonzaga improved to 6-2-2 overall with their first WCC win (1-0-2).

Statistically, it was a fairly evenly played match as the Zags won a slight edge in shots, 14-11. The home team got on the board in the 24th minute as Jakob Granlund took a pass from Conner Bevans on a breakaway and put a shot out of the reach of LMU goalkeeper Paul Blanchette.

Ten minutes into the second half, it was Bevans who scored on an assist from Lars Ludwig to give the Zags a 2-0 lead.

Just inside the 60-minute mark, Dylan Seedman scored his second goal in as many games, punching in a shot off a blocked shot from Adrien Perez. Shortly thereafter Juan De Rada had a shot blocked and John McFarlin's attempt was saved by Gonzaga goalkeeper Ryan Caballero. Seedman had one more attempt as time wound down, but his shot went high.

The Lions are back in action Sunday, facing Portland at Merlo Field. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
