2012 All-Americans

LOS ANGELES - LMU's Alexandra Honny, Casey Flacks and Kimberly Benedetti have been named to the 2012 All-American Teams, as announced the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches on Monday. The trio led the Lions to their ninth conference championships and ninth NCAA tournament appearance in the 2012 season.

For Flacks, she becomes the first female athlete in LMU history to earn All-American honors all four seasons as a Lion. She joins men's water polo players Andy Stevens and Tibor Forai as the only four-time All-Americans in school history. Benedetti is a three-time All-American.

Honny, who finished with 88 goals on the season to rank third all-time in LMU history, was named third-team All-American, while Flacks and Benedetti were named honorable mention.

"These three were definitely a big part of our success this season," said Head Coach Kyle Witt. "As for Casey and Benedetti, the honors they have earned tell just a part of how important they have been to this program. To earn four All-American honors in a single career is rare, and is an incredible accomplishment."

The trio gives LMU 32 All-Americans since the 2001 season. The Lions have had at least two All-Americans since 2007.

Benedetti, who became just the third Lion to score seven goals in a game when she did it against Princeton in her final game, finished 2012 with 64 goals. She ends her four year career ranked fourth all-time with 223 goals. Flacks is tied for 14th with 116.

Flacks and Honny also find themselves in the top-20 in career steals, with Flacks ranking fourth with 189 and Honny is 15th with 103. Honny had 66 steals in 2012 to rank seventh for a single season.
