LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Eleven former LMU baseball players have been active in professional baseball this year, including one in the Major Leagues.
Former Lion Spotlight:
Former Lion Ryan Wheeler (2007-09) has batted a blistering .371 over the course of the 2012 season playing for the Triple-A Reno Aces in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. The left-handed hitting infielder has amassed 37 runs scored, 18 doubles, four triples and nine home runs to the tune of 65 RBI and a .575 slugging percentage. In addition to the solid numbers at the plate, he has swiped a pair of bases while reaching at a .410 clip. Wheeler is hitting an incredible .514 over 16 games in the month of June, notching seven doubles and 17 RBI with a 1.233 OPS in the month.
