LOS ANGELES - LMU rowing will celebrate the university's Centennial along with its own program's 50th anniversary as the men's and women's teams each host a duel meet Saturday, March 10 at Ballona Creek in Marina Del Rey.
Racing gets underway at 10 a.m. as the Lion women go head-to-head against San Diego State while the men host UCLA. The women's meet will feature three races - the second varsity eight, varsity eight and varsity four. The men's meet will feature two races - the varsity eight and freshman eight.
Following the meet's conclusion at approximately 11:45 a.m., a catered celebration, dedication and tours will take place at the Jane Brown Bove Boathouse. The inaugural men's and women's rowing teams will be recognized and there will be a dedication of the two new racing shells - the "Coach John R. Lind" and the "Famiglia Bove."
The 50-year anniversary concludes Saturday night with a dinner at the L.A. Marriott Hotel. Tickets are still available for the event and anyone interested in attending should contact June D'Amour at 310-338-1743 or June.D'Amour@lmu.edu.
