LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Freshman Colin Welmon was named to College Baseball 360's Primetime Performer list on Tuesday for his work at Texas last weekend. The right-hander performed like a veteran by fashioning 7.0 shutout innings on the road at Texas, guiding LMU to a 1-0 victory over the Longhorns.
Welmon did not factor into the decision, as LMU scored once in the top of the ninth inning, but the native of Tustin, Calif. faced just 24 batters, allowing only three singles while striking out a pair. He finished his outing having retired the final 12 batters he faced in order.
LMU and Welmon will return to action on Thursday when the Lions open a three-game series against Indiana at LMU's Page Stadium. Thursday's game is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
