Game Two Box Score

Davis, Calif.-- After a day of missed opportunities and leaving runners on bade, the LMU Lions Softball team came out with vengeance today to correct their mistakes. The Lions showed exactly how deep and dangerous their roster is with players stepping up in the clutch.

Down 5-0 quick into game one against Boise State, the top of the Lion's order came out strong with Danielle Smith's lead off single, brought home by a Sam Fischer homerun, her first of the season.

The Lions trailed Bosie State 5-2 heading into the fourth inning when the bottom half of the Lion's batting order showed they were just as strong as the top. Meghan Harmen, Samantha Nelson, and Skyler Segura loaded the bases when senior Brittany Perada went yard to left field for a 4 run Grand Slam, putting the Lions ahead 6-5.

The Broncos fought back on a two run single by Tara Glover, while Sam Fischer cracked her second homerun of the game to level the score 7-7 after 7 innings of play.

Exchanging runs in the eight and ninth innings, both teams were not going to let up. Two and a half hours into the game, late in the bottom of the tenth inning, the Lions trailed 9-8. Sam Fischer was placed on second base due to the international tie breaker rule and the Broncos opted to walk Sarginson to face the bottom half of the Lions lineup. Sophomore Meghan Harmen advanced both runners on a sacrifice bunt and junior Skyler Segura drove the go ahead runs in on a double to right center and the Lions won game one 10-9.

Junior Molly Medeiros (2-0) came in during the eighth inning to collect her second win of the season, striking out 2. Allie Crump (1-1) got the loss for the Broncos.

With no time to rest, the Lions headed right into their second game of the day against UC Davis.

Medeiros took to the circle, warm from her three innings outing in the previous game. In an all out pitchers duel, Medeiros held off the Aggies through six, giving them a 1-0 lead with 2 strikeouts. But Medeiros needed her team to show up at the plate in order to get the win.

With only 2 hits recorded heading into the sixth inning, the Lions bats came alive with a 3 run homerun by Sam Fischer, her third of the day. LMU collected 4 runs in the top of the sixth inning to lead 4-1.

The Lions closed out the day with Senior Kylie Ahlo driving in an RBI single to give the Lions a 5-1 win over UC Davis. The win went to Medeiros, making her 3-0 this season.

The Lions play their final game in Davis tomorrow against Nevada at 9:00am
