LOS ANGELES -- After two weeks off for finals, LMU men's basketball will play three of their next four games over the holiday season at home, and there will be plenty going on for fans at Gersten Pavilion. It all starts on Wednesday, Dec. 19 when the Lions host Ole Miss at 8 p.m. Plenty of tickets are left for the rare SEC match-up.
Ole Miss will be the 24th team from a "BCS" program to visit the bluff but just the second from the SEC in LMU men's basketball history, joining Mississippi State (2007).
The game will also celebrate the holiday season with elementary students from the LMU Family of Schools and LMU Cares programs. The LMU Pep Band will perform a holiday show at halftime. In addition, an LMU Holiday Ornament and Go Lion signs will be the giveaway for the game.
Following a trip to Saint Louis on Dec. 22, the Lions will return home for the final pair of non-conference games before WCC play begins.
The Lions will host Morgan State in the second LMU Holiday Classic on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. The game is FREE TO ALL, and Sodexo will once again be offering $1 hotdogs during the game.
The Lions will then finish non-conference play in 2012 with the return match-up with CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.
Fans are reminded that at all home games through Wednesday, February 27, 2013, LMU will be collecting clothing - primarily t-shirts - as part of the 2012-13 WCC T-Shirt Drive to benefit Clothes4Souls. This is the second year that the WCC will be hosting a T-Shirt Drive for Clothes4Souls, a division of the non-profit Soles4Souls, which the WCC has partnered with for the last five years.
Bins will be placed throughout Gersten Pavilion and fans wishing to donate on behalf of the Lions can bring t-shirts to any home men's or women's basketball game. While t-shirts are preferred for the Clothes4Souls drive, LMU will gladly accept any donated clothing and donate the items to appropriate charities.
