LOS ANGELES - For the second straight season, LMU senior Jennifer Nayudu has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, it has been announced. Nayudu was honored at the outfield position and is one of three players from the Pacific Coastal Softball Conference to be recognized.
In 2009-10, Nayudu (Carlsbad, Calif.) became just the ninth student-athlete in LMU history to earn Academic All-American honors, gaining a place on the ESPN the Magazine Second Team. She has followed that up in 2011 by earning back-to-back First Team All-District honors and is automatically entered into the running for All-American status. A team captain in 2011, Nayudu was a top-30 candidate this year for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and from LMU this past Saturday with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Economics. She holds a 3.84 GPA. Nayudu is a three-time member of the PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and was named the LMU Micro Economist of the Year in 2009-10.
On the field, Nayudu has captained the Lions to the PCSC Coastal Division championship after hitting .305 in 50 games. In 126 career games, she has a .306 average.
LMU will travel to Portland State this weekend for the PCSC Championship Series to decide the conference's outright champion and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Lions and Vikings will play a best-of-three series starting with a single game Friday at 3 p.m. The second game will be Saturday at noon and a third game, if necessary, will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
