HAYWARD, Calif. -- The eighth-ranked LMU women's water polo team earned a 15-3 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the first day of play at the 2011 Western Water Polo Association Championships on Friday, advancing to the semifinals at Chabot Community College in Hayward, Calif.
The Lions advance to the semifinals for the 14th straight year and will take on host Cal State East Bay at 12 noon. The Pioneers defeated Colorado State to advance.
LMU was led by Erin Manke with four goals and Kimberly Benedetti with three as the entire roster played in the final game of the day for the tournament.
THe Lions led 4-0 after one, 7-1 after the second and 13-2 after three. Nine different Lions scored in the win.
