Results

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Lions went on the road today to Santa Barbara for their last regular season match where they faced the UCSB Gauchos. After earning the doubles point, the Lions were unable to hold off the Gauchos in singles falling 5-2 overall. The Lions were highlighted with a singles win from freshman Daniel Simko and two doubles wins on the day.

In doubles the Lions earned two wins on courts two and three to secure the doubles point on the day. On court two, Nicholas Bjerke and Aris Andreasian defeated Reckangel/Forget of UCSB handily 8-3. The Lions followed this win up with a victory on court three where freshman duo Tom Price and Daniel Simko defeated Therp/Jurgensen of UCSB 8-4. On court one, Wilton and Bustamante fell 8-3 to Knigsfeldt/Chavez-Goggin.

In singles play the Lion's solo win came from Daniel Simko on court six. Simko defeated Philip Therp 6-3, 6-1 to earn the Lions second point against the Gauchos. In other singles play, Nicholas Bjerke took Reckangel to three sets, rallying back to win the second set before falling 6-4 in the third. Alex Wilton also came close to earning a win over Chavez-Goggin winning the second set in a close 7-6 but was unable to hold on in the third.
