LOS ANGELES, Calif. - In their third and final road match this week, the Lions fell to conference opponents University of San Francisco. The Lions saw wins from Daniel Simko and Nicholas Bjerke, who teamed up in the top doubles position. Both Simko and Bjerke then went on to record wins in singles, however the Lions fell 5-2 in the match overall.

In doubles, top duo Daniel Simko and Nicholas Bjerke recorded a big win at the number one position for the Lions. Simko and Bjerke defeated Schumacher/Bahri of San Francisco 8-6. The duo had three straight wins together last week and moved up in the line up, finding success for the Lions at the top court. After this weekend, Bjerk/Simko's record is 4-2 overall in doubles so far this season. In other doubles play, both courts two and three were close (8-6 finals), but the Lions were unable to get a second doubles win needed to secure the doubles point.

In singles play, the Lion's two points against the Don's came once again from Daniel Simko and Nicholas Bjerke. After winning their doubles match, each went on to earn singles victories for LMU. On court three, Bjerke defeated Schumacher of USF. After dropping the first set 3-6, Bjerke came back to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. On court six, doubles partner Daniel Simko defeated Alex Kotlyar of San Francisco 6-2, 6-3. With this win, the Lions had two points on the day against the Dons. On court one, Aris Andreasain went to three sets against Olaf Blakke going to a tiebreaker twice 6-7(3), 7-6(5) and finally fell 6-2 in the third set. Sebastian Bustamante and Tom Price also fought the Dons to three sets, but were unable to get the wins.

The Lions have had six matches in two weeks including three conference match ups. Now the team will have some time to rest and regroup after a packed competition schedule before traveling south to San Diego on Saturday February 26th at 1:30 pm.
