LOS ANGELES - A hard-fought battle between the Lions and Gonzaga Bulldogs ended in a scoreless tie in WCC women's soccer action Sunday at Sullivan Field.

LMU moved to 6-5-2 on the season and 0-1-1 in WCC play, picking up their first conference point with the draw. Gonzaga moved to 7-4-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the WCC with its second straight tie game.

Erin Rementer had one of the best scoring opportunities for either team in the 27th minute of play. Linda Bakker crossed the ball into the box from the right flank. Tawni Martino was unable to get a solid foot on it, but tipped it to an oncoming Rememter who's shot from 10 yards out sailed high of the crossbar.

Both defenses limited the shot opportunities of their opponents, thought the Lions did finish the match with a 9-4 advantage.

Martino finished with three shots for LMU while Bakker had two. The Bulldogs' co-leading scorer Sarah Rhodes had three shots, including one in the 12th minute that resulted in Brittany Jagger's lone save of the game.

LMU's final chance to net the game-winner came nearly five minutes into the second overtime. Drawing a foul just outside the left corner of the box, Brittney Sanford's free kick went wide right of the goal.

The Lions return to action Friday, Oct. 14 at Saint Mary's. They return to Sullivan Field on Sunday, Oct. 16 for a noon kickoff against Pepperdine.
