LOS ANGELES - The LMU women's soccer team closed out West Coast Conference play on Sunday at Sullivan Field, falling 4-0 to No. 10 Santa Clara.

The Lions are now 7-10-2 overall and finish with a 1-6-1 WCC mark. The Broncos, unbeaten in their last 11 games, are now 13-1-5 overall and 6-0-1 in WCC play.

LMU came out strong in the first half, totaling three shots to the Broncos five. Santa Clara would eventually take a 1-0 lead at the 29:11 mark following a hard tackle in the box and a made penalty kick by Meleana Shim.

Santa Clara extended the lead to 2-0 just two minutes into the second half as Bridgett Miller headed in her fourth goal of the season off a cross from Sarah Jackson. The Broncos made it 3-0 just three minutes later when Margueritte Aozasa sent a shot from outside the box into the top right corner of the net, past the reach of a diving Brittany Jagger.

Bronco leading scorer Sophie Huerta rounded out the scoring in the 65th minute, scoring on an unassisted shot from the left wing.

LMU had its chances in the second half, including a long shot from the left wing by Brittney Sanford that forced Santa Clara goalkeeper Bianca Henninger to make a beautiful diving save. Erin Rementer also had a quality opportunity late in the half on a shot near the top of the box, but the shot was blocked by a Bronco defender.

Jagger finished with four saves while Henninger had two before being relieved by Molly Mettler for the final 20 minutes.

The Lions wrap up the season on Saturday, Nov. 5 against Seattle University. Kick off at Sullivan Field is 1 p.m. and will be preceded by a brief celebration honoring the senior class of 2011.
