Rowing Looking for Walk-on Athletes

Aug. 31, 2010

LMU Rowing is looking for individuals interested in being varsity athletes. No prior rowing experience is required. Our first informational meeting will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in U-Hall 1000.

The rowing program at LMU relies heavily on the talent of walk-on athletes. We are looking for individuals who enjoy being athletes and who want to commit to being part of a Division I team. By joining LMU Rowing you will get the opportunity to travel and compete against the best schools in the nation. Moreover you will compete at a Division I level against teams such as Cal, Washington, USC, UCLA, and so on.

A love of athletics, a passion for competition, and a willingness to learn a new sport is all that is required to become a member of the rowing program.

Did you play a sport in high school? Do you enjoy participating in sports and being surrounded by like-minded people? Then LMU Rowing is where you belong. We are looking for several categories of athletes:
1) Guys that are 6' tall or taller
2) Guys or Girls that weigh less than 135 pounds

Thanks to talented and dedicated students like you, LMU Rowing has had a surge of recent success. The women's team won its first-ever West Coast Conference title in 2006 and the lightweight 4 captured the IRA title in 2008.

Height is an asset in rowing, but we would love to meet with top athletes of any size. Positive attitude, strong work ethic and love of sport are required!

The men's team is looking for rowers 6'0" and taller, coxswains (can be men or women) 135 lbs or lighter.

Our first informational meeting will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in U-Hall 1000.
