LOS ANGELES - Fans planning to attend this weekend's softball series between LMU and Sacramento State are advised to allow extra travel time due to the scheduled closure of campus roads for the university's undergraduate commencement on May 8 and the graduate commencement on May 9. All roads on campus will be closed between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8 and entrance to campus will be restricted to the Lincoln Blvd. gate only.
LMU strongly recommends that fans refrain from planning to arrive prior to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Parking is severely restricted and any fans arriving prior to 11:30 a.m. will be forced to shuttle from off-campus parking. Shuttle operations will cease at the conclusion of graduation and will not be available after the softball games.
LMU recommends that fans planning to attend just the softball games starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday not attempt to arrive on campus prior to 1 p.m. The gates to Smith Field will open as usual at 1 p.m., one hour before first pitch.
Between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, no cars will be granted access to any on-campus roads. After 1 p.m., roads will re-open but campus access and local streets will be heavily congested. Additionally, the Lincoln Blvd. gate will be open as an entrance only, while the Loyola Blvd. gate will be exit only. Please allow extra time in getting from the Lincoln Blvd. gate to Smith Field.
On Sunday, May 9, the softball games are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m. Graduate commencement begins at 10 a.m., followed by the Loyola Law School commencement at noon. Although there will be no road closures on campus, please be advised that parking may be limited on this day.
