LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Seventh-ranked LMU women's water returned home for the final two games of the regular season, and started the homestand with an impressive 8-4 win over No. 13 UC Irvine at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center on Friday afternoon.
The Lions posted a 7-1 lead after three periods thanks to a 15-save performance by goalie Kristine Cato. The Lions improve to 23-4 on the season while UC Irvine falls to 11-14.
Six different Lions scored the eight goals, including a pair each by Mary Ann Campos and Diana Romero.
The Lions led 3-1 at the break and then scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to pull away. Romero, Campos, Erin Manke and Anne Scott all scored in the decisive frame.
The Lions will play their final game of the regular season when they host Pomona-Pitzer for Senior Day, Sunday, April 18 at 12 noon.
