LMU Postgame Press Conference Quotes vs. Gonzaga
Head Coach Max Good:
Opening Statement:
First of all, I want to congratulate Gonzaga on playing very well. I thought our effort was good but we made six turnovers early in probably the first 7-8 minutes and we finished with 12 so I thought we did a good job after they hit us in the mouth early. And then when Ashley (Hamilton) got the two quick fouls it kind of took us away from having the post presence offensively. Gonzaga is a very good team and they showed it tonight. I hope that all the three teams that are left in this go on to play well in postseason play. You have to be a team player in this league and I want to see them all do very, very well. I'm proud to be in this league. It's a league where they value education and the student-athlete. You don't hear a lot in this league about guys having troubles off the court and, trust me, that's a blessing in this day and age.
On going to the postseason:
We'll go to the Dust Bowl if we're invited but I certainly hope so. We need to continue to grow. We need to hit the weight room. First we have to get back to class and have a period where we can get back on our feet academically and then we can get in the weight room and continue to grow as a team.
On the importance of the team playing in the postseason:
Well, I go into depression when the season is over, so I couldn't be more sincere when I really really hope that we get to play someplace, anyplace. I think these kids have earned it. They've had some big-time wins over some good teams and they've gotten progressively better.
On being short-handed:
We've been able to put five guys on the floor for every game, so no we haven't been short-handed.
On his players:
I couldn't be prouder of the answers they just gave. You never hear excuses from winning teams. Have you ever heard a winning team make an excuse? It's a fact we played three games in three days but so what? We played our best basketball in the second half tonight and I couldn't be prouder of these guys.
Sophomore Drew Viney:
On his confidence in LMU playing in a postseason tournament:
Yeah, I'm pretty confident, especially after what we have accomplished. We've had a long season and we've been progressing this whole time. I don't know if it's for sure or not but we're really hoping that we get into some sort of tournament. We're hoping for the best.
Sophomore Jarred DuBois:
On playing three games in three nights:
That's what you want. You want to play the best teams in one week. When you play AAU, you sometimes play three games in a day. So three games in three nights shouldn't affect you. If you want to win, you'll suck it up and win.
