LMU Invitational Results and Scoresheets
LOS ANGELES, Calif -- Sophomore Casey Flacks scored eight goals in two games on Sunday, to help the ninth-ranked LMU women's water polo team to run their winning streak to 12 games thanks to a pair of wins in the final day of the LMU Invitational at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center on Saturday.
The Lions improve to 17-2 on the season thanks to a 13-7 win over Western Water Polo Association foe in the first game and a 13-3 win over No. 20 Princeton in the final game of the tournament. Flacks scored five goals in the win over Sonoma State and then added three in the win over the Tigers.
It is the best record through 19 games in program history and they are one game shy of the program record 13-game winning streak they have done twice, from March 10 - April 12, 2003 and then again March 19 - April 13, 2005.
The Lions jumped out to a 10-1 lead on Sonoma State and coasted the rest of the way to improve to 5-0 against WWPA foes on the year.
In the win over Princeton, the Lions once again jumped out to a quick start, taking a 5-1 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Anne Scott. They capped the win with a fourth-quarter shutout by the defense. LMU goalie Kristine Cato with 11 saves.
The Lions will continue their seven-game homestand when they host Brown at 3 p.m., Friday, March 26 and then San Jose State on Saturday, March 27 at 12 noon.
