SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The LMU women's water polo program continued its best start in school history with a pair of wins at the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State on Saturday, defeating Marist, 13-7, and Maryland, 11-8. With the wins, the Lions improve to 13-2 on the season.
The Lions, winners of seven Western Water Polo Association championships in nine years, have won 13 of their first 15 games for the first time since the program debuted in 1998.
Sophomore Casey Flacks led the Lions with three goals in the win over Marist as the Lions broke open a one-goal game at the break by outscoring Marist 7-2 in the second half.
In the final game of the day, Anne Scott had four goals as the Lions once again used a big second half push to overcome a one-goal deficit. They outscored Maryland 6-2 in the second half as they had eight different players score in the first game and seven in the second game.
