More Postseason Honors for Men's Hoops

March 10, 2010

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Thanks to its most wins since 1996, more postseason honors have come the way of the LMU men's basketball team as CollegeInsider.com has named Lions' Head Coach Max Good as the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year, while Sporting News has named sophomore Drew Viney second-team All-WCC.

In his second season, his first full season since taking over in 2008-09, Good has led the Lions to a 15-game turnaround from last year's three win season. At 18-15, the Lions' turnaround is the second best in program history and second in the nation this season. He also led the Lions to its sixth semifinal appearance in the Zappos.com WCC Men's Basketball Championships last weekend.

In addition, the winning record has the Lions eligible for a postseason invitational tournament, its first postseason appearance in 20 years.

As for Viney, the first year player who transfered from Oregon, leads the Lions in both points and rebounds, ranking fourth in the WCC with 16.7 points per contest and fifth with 7.1 rebounds per game. He was named first-team All-WCC by the conference coaches.
