IRVINE, Calif. -- The seventh-ranked LMU women's water polo team split a pair of games in the first day of the 2010 UC Irvine Invitational, which features 14 ranked teams in the 16-team field. The Lions dropped a heartbreaker to No. 10 San Jose State in the opener but responded with a 13-7 win over Long Beach State in the second game.

The Lions will play the winner of UC Davis-UC Irvine in Game #18 at 9:15 a.m. at Corona del Mar High School Sunday.
