DuBois Named Preseason All-WCC

Oct. 22, 2009

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- As a true freshman, Jarred DuBois re-wrote the freshman scoring record book for LMU men's basketball. He was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team because of it. As he enters year two of his career with the Lions, he has been tabbed as one of the best in the WCC by the leagues' eight coaches.

DuBois has been named one of the leagues' top-10 players, earning 2009-10 WCC Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference honors, the WCC announced on Thursday (Oct. 23). DuBois is the first LMU player named preseason All-WCC since Brandon Worthy and Matthew Knight in 2006. Joining DuBois on the Preseason All-WCC list are Keion Bell (Pepperdine), Matt Bouldin (Gonzaga), T.J. Campbell (Portland), Kevin Foster (Santa Clara), Steven Gray (Gonzaga), Brandon Johnson (San Diego), Dior Lowhorn (San Francisco), Nik Raivio (Portland), and Omar Samhan (Saint Mary's).

In his first season at LMU, DuBois became the first freshman in LMU history to score more than 400 points in a season, going for 417 in 31 games. His 13.5 points per game ranked third among freshman at LMU and his 39 points in the win over Cal State Bakersfield (Jan. 4, 2009) smashed the single game record. On the season, he also had games of 28 (Santa Clara - Feb. 14), 25 (at San Diego - Jan. 17) and 23 (at UALR - Nov. 29).

Additionally, DuBois ranked 12th overall in the WCC in scoring and second among freshman in the league. He also finished the 2009 season ranked eighth in three pointers per game (1.58), 10th in assists (2.7) and second in free throw percentage (84.3).

He was also one of the hardest working players in school history and in college basketball last season. He logged 1,071 minutes as a freshman, ranking second all-time in LMU history. His 34.5 minutes per game was 17th.

The Lions will celebrate the start of the season with Madness at Midnight on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 p.m. They will then give fans a sneak-peak with the Crimson-Navy Scrimmage on Oct. 24. The day starts with a free BBQ at 3:00 p.m., and the scrimmage follows at 4 p.m.
