Los Angeles, Calif. - Putting up one of the strongest performances of his career when Loyola Marymount needed it most, Will Quaglieri led the Lions to the victory that clinched the West Coast Conference Coast Division title on Monday, May 10. Today, the conference rewarded the Lions' senior with his second WCC/Rawlings Pitcher of the Week honors of the season.
Quaglieri pitched the Lions to their 20th conference victory last Monday, clinching LMU's first division title since the 2000 season in the process. He tossed his team-high third complete game of the season against Saint Mary's, surrendering just three runs on eight hits while striking out a
career-high 10 batters.
The Reno, Nev., native struck out the side with runners on second and third in the bottom of the sixth, preserving a 5-3 Lion lead.
Quaglieri was also tabbed for WCC/Rawlings Pitcher of the Week honors on March 1, and earned the conference's first Pitcher of the Month recognition of the 2004 season for his February efforts.
Quaglieri and the Lions will play their final mid-week game this Tuesday, when they travel to face Cal State Northridge tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
