Rory DeWan enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Lions in 2018-19
DeWan started as the assistant coach for LMU Men's Golf in the summer of 2015. Prior to joining the Lions, worked as a golf coach at Urban Golf Performance in Los Angeles, where he gained expertise using tour-level teaching technology and working in unison with a physical therapist and club-fitter.
In 2013 returned to his alma mater, Torrance High School, as Head Coach for the Boys and Girls Golf Teams. While the head coach, worked at Virginia Country Club in Outside Operations, spending time shadowing a PGA Tour coach, learning invaluable techniques for working with the highest level of player.
DeWan was a two-sport athlete, playing golf and football at Torrance High School, then moving on to play golf at El Camino College. While finishing up school at San Diego State University, he got my first teaching job as an assistant pro at Riverwalk Golf Club. At this point he became a full-blown student of the game. Teaching 30+ group lessons per week he was able to see a lot of golf swings and learn to adopt my own methodologies.
Rory has a connection to the Lions in that both his parents graduated from LMU.
