In her third season, Bianca Mejia helped guide the 2026 Lions to a 33-19 overall record and a third-place finish in the West Coast Conference with a 10-8 mark in league play. The season was highlighted by the best 15-game non-conference start in program history at 13-2, as LMU earned national recognition with seven consecutive weeks in the D1Softball Mid-Major Top 25 rankings and also received votes in week three of the NFCA Top 25 poll. The Lions secured a signature win over No. 23 Washington on February 22 and saw continued success across the roster, highlighted by the WCC Defensive Player of the Year in Avery Francis, four All-WCC First Team selections, three Second Team honorees, and three All-Freshman Team selections. LMU also excelled in the classroom, earning three All-WCC All-Academic Team selections and six honorable mentions.
In her second season, Mejia helped guide a young Lions squad to a 22-31 overall record, including a 7-8 mark in WCC play. The year featured signature wins over No. 6 Oregon and No. 75 Saint Mary’s, while eight Lions earned All-WCC honors and seven were recognized on All-Academic Teams.
In her first season, Mejia assisted the 2024 Lions to a second-place finish in the WCC with a 9-7 conference record and a 28-25 overall mark. Highlights included a 4-0 victory over No. 14 Oregon and a championship at the Spring Fling Tournament in Hawaii, where four Lions were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Mejia joined the Lions ahead of the 2024 season, reuniting with head coach Tairia Flowers. The two previously worked together at CSUN in 2012, where Mejia served as a volunteer assistant coach and director of softball operations, overseeing team travel, video analysis, and recruiting efforts.
“I’m extremely excited to join Coach Flowers’ staff and continue the championship pedigree she has built over the years,” said Mejia. “I’m excited to get to work with the hitters.”
Prior to LMU, Mejia served as an assistant coach at Bryant University from 2014 to 2015, where she helped guide the Bulldogs to their first Northeast Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. She later continued her coaching career at Dartmouth.
A native of Sylmar, California, Mejia starred at Long Island University, earning Northeast Conference Player of the Year honors in both 2009 and 2010 while helping lead the program to one of the most successful stretches in school history. A three-time First Team All-NEC selection and consensus All-American, she helped guide LIU to the 2010 NEC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Following her collegiate career, Mejia was selected in the 2011 National Pro Fastpitch Draft by the Diamonds and earned NPF Defensive Player of the Year honors during her rookie season. In 2026, her championship legacy was further recognized with induction into the LIU Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the historic 2010 team.
“We’re so excited to bring Bianca to The Bluff,” said Flowers. “Her passion and knowledge of the game make her an outstanding addition to our staff.”
