Junior… Played in eight games… Scored two goals with two assists for four points… Scored a goal with an assist for two points on a perfect shooting percentage in the conference win over Concordia (Mar. 28)… Scored a goal against Biola (Jan. 25)… Recorded a pair of steals with one coming against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Jan. 18) and the other against Mount St. Mary’s (Mar. 1).
2024
Sophomore… Scored four goals and added five assists for nine points… Recorded three steals and two field blocks… Won her only spring of the year… Scored two goals against Ottawa Arizona (Feb. 24).
2023
Freshman… Scored a goal in the win over Westcliff (Mar. 25)… Recorded two assists in the conference win over Concordia (Apr. 15)... Named to the GCC All-Academic Team.
Before LMU
Played four seasons of high school water polo at Coronado High School. Three year varsity starter; high scorer and leader in steals and exclusions drawn Junior and Senior year, JV MVP Freshman Year, as well as most Improved Varsity Player Sophomore Year. Received the Coach's Award and Islander Integrity, Sportsmanship and Friendship (ISF) Award Junior Year. Member of SD County Div 1 CIF Water Polo Championship Team, Coronado High School as well as CIF qualifier for 500m and 200m swim events.
Club Water Polo
Coronado Aquatics Club Water Polo (2017-2021). La Jolla United Club Water Polo (2021-2022). Member of 2021 PSW ODP Youth Team. Led the newly formed La Jolla United WPC 18u team to second place finish in SD County Junior Olympic qualifying tournament.
Personal
Katherine Wastila was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, daughter of Derek and Hilori Wastila. Father Derek played college basketball at UCSD. Has two siblings, sister Caraline and brother Vincent. Cousin Matthew plays water polo at UCSD. Member of Coronado High School Best Buddies Program (2018-2022). Recipient of the Coronado High School Islander Award for Physical Education (2019). Member of National Honor Society (2020-2022). Recipient of the Coronado High School Faculty Commendation Award (2022) and Brian Bent Memorial Award (2022).
