Rachel Rubio joined Loyola Marymount University Athletics in early February 2026 and serves as an Assistant Sports Media Relations Manager. In her role, she oversees communications and media relations efforts for women’s basketball, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball, and softball. She oversees press communications, manages statistical reporting, and contributes to digital and social media storytelling efforts that enhance the visibility of LMU’s student-athletes and programs.
Rubio’s path to athletic communications is rooted in her experience as both a student-athlete and coach. A former softball student-athlete at University of La Verne, she earned All-Conference First Team honors three times during her collegiate career. She graduated from La Verne with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology before continuing her education at the university.
During her graduate studies, Rubio served as a Graduate Assistant for the softball program, working as the team’s pitching coach. She later transitioned into the university’s sports information office, where she spent a full year overseeing communications for all 18 varsity programs, gaining broad experience across multiple sports and operational areas.
Rubio earned her master’s degree in Leadership and Management with a concentration in Human Resources from ULV. She brings a comprehensive understanding of collegiate athletics to her role at LMU, combining experience as a student-athlete, coach, and communications professional.
