2019: Redshirt Sophomore
Played in 26 games… Scored two goals on two shots for a perfect 1.000 shooting percentage… Scored in the PCH Cup against #8 Pepperdine (Sept. 14) and again later in the season against Occidental (Nov. 9)… WWPA All-Academic Team Selection.
 
2018: Redshirt Freshman
Appeared in 21 games… Scored one goal and added one assist for two points… Scored his first career goal in the conference opener against Air Force (Sept. 22) and recorded his assist against Navy (Oct. 7)… Added two steals on the year... Earned WWPA All-Academic Team - Superior recognition.
 
2017: Freshman
Served redshirt season.
 
BEFORE LMU... graduated from Flower Mound High School, where he played four years of water polo... Was a two-year captain and all-state performer... All American Swimming and All American Water Polo and Varsity Swimming and Varsity Water Polo all four years... Earned third place at state his sophomore and junior years (2015 and 2016) and second place at state as a senior (2017)...Competed for Thunder Water Polo at the junior Olympics in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
 
PERSONAL... Rylan Russell is the son of Deidra and Robert Russell... Father, Robert, played tennis at Louisiana State University... Has two brothers, Vincent and Reid...In high school, volunteered running water polo games and with Breakfast Buddies (positively influencing children from low income families)... Earned USA Water Polo Outstanding Academic All American, TISCA Swimming All American Academic, Top Student In PreAP Precalculus and PreAP Physics, National Merit Commended, National Honor Society, and Math Honor Society... Was an all-state swimmer as a junior and senior in high school... Intends to major in civil engineering at LMU.
